The Detroit Psychedelic Conference: Return of the Djhedi gathers for three days — Awakening, Initiation, and Integration — at the Marygrove Conservancy in Detroit. The conference weaves Kemetic wisdom, cutting-edge psychedelic science, and Afrofuturist vision into keynotes, workshops, panels, ceremony, and a vibrant vendor hall.
The Detroit Psychedelic Society
The Detroit Psychedelic Society is a volunteer-led, Detroit-born community devoted to psychedelic ritual, education, harm reduction, and research. Since 2014 it has created safe, inclusive spaces where healers, clinicians, artists, and seekers explore consciousness through the lens of ancestral plant traditions and modern science.
Alongside Per Ankh House of Life — Detroit's entheogenic church founded by Society spokesperson Moudou Baqui — the Society honors Kemetic and indigenous lineages while championing equitable access to healing for communities long excluded from the psychedelic renaissance.
Our History
Established in 2014, the Detroit Psychedelic Society has spent over a decade at the forefront of psychedelic ritual, education, and research. It was born from the vision of Baba Kilindi Iyi (1955–2020) — a native Detroiter, martial-arts master, and legendary explorer of high-dose psilocybin — whose "Way of the Mushroom" teachings seeded a movement rooted in consciousness exploration.
Remaining a pillar of the entheogenic community despite scrutiny and criminalization, the Society partners with Per Ankh House of Life, the Michigan Psychedelic Society, Zide Door Church, Blue Sage Health Consulting, and the Tamerrian Institute to keep psychedelic education and healing in the hands of the people.
Previous Conferences
October 28–30 at the historic First Unitarian Church of Detroit on Cass Avenue — an early gathering convened under founder Baba Kilindi Iyi.
Sustained monthly programming: harm-reduction workshops, integration circles, and community education across Detroit venues.
The Society deepens its dual focus on entheogenic ritual and psychedelic research, expanding its network of collaborating healers.
Community reach widens through partnerships with the Michigan Psychedelic Society and allied grassroots organizations.
August 7–9 gathering; the Society also honored the legacy of Baba Kilindi Iyi (1955–2020), whose work birthed the conference.
In-person ceremonies and integration work resume, renewing the Society's commitment to safe, accessible healing spaces.
August 19–21 — a landmark three-day convergence of researchers, healers, and artists that attendees called life-changing.
July 8–9 at the Marygrove Conservancy — a conference centering the divine feminine within entheogenic practice.
November 1–3 at Per Ankh House of Life — the Society's 10th-anniversary celebration of its legendary conference.
April gathering continuing the Society's dedicated platform for women in the entheogenic and psychedelic space.

A Historic Setting
The Liberal Arts Building, dedicated in 1927, was designed by Oscar D. Bohlen in the collegiate Gothic style — a fitting monument for the gathering of the circle.
